Roel Veugelers has been a lawyer since 1992. He started his career in corporate law and acquisitions. That was his springboard to pension law. End of the nineties, he founded the pension group at Simmons & Simmons, where he remained partner till end of 2007. After that, he founded Veugelers Advocacy, one of the merging partners of Blom Veugelers Zuiderman Lawyers.

Roel advises and litigates on all occurring pension law issues and disputes. He is a pension lawyer for multiple pension funds, financial institutions and (international) companies. Roel is particularly well capable to come up with clear, creative and pragmatic advices and to achieve results. He is also a mediator, binding advisor and arbitrator. His challenge is to find a solution for complex pension issues that is acceptable for all parties involved. And he is doing very well at this.

in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister):

 

Legal practice area: Labour Law
Secondary Legal practice area: Pensions

 

Based on this registration, he is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in
each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the

Secondary activities

 

Roel is an editor for the Pensioen Magazine (Pension Magazine) for which he publishes regularly trade related articles. He acts as deputy subdistrict court judge. Roel is a member of the Advisory Committee Pension Law of the Dutch Bar Association. As a member of this committee he advises on bills regarding pensions and he has regular contact with MP’s on these bills. Roel is a member of the Association for Pension Law, the Circle of Pension Specialist and the IPEBLA – International Pensions and Employee Benefits Layers Associations. His articles are included under the Publications on this website. He also regularly gives lectures on subjects within pension law both nationally and internationally.
